Simple Manicure

Long time no blog

Hi all! It’s been a really long time since I last posted here. Definitely not “daily.” ;)

Back in December my nails were probably the longest they have ever been! What’s the perfect manicure for long nails? A French manicure of course… :)

Unfortunately I had a run-in with a really bad manicurist at the Salt Lake City Airport just a few days later. :( The poor girl really had no idea what she was doing. Filing down my nails (No! Stop!), and trying to cover ever bit of nail with polish (Hint: theres a reason why good manicurists leave a little bit of nail near the cuticle unpolished).

Mental note: Never get another airport manicure. Its just not worth it.

Image below is shown small because any larger would scare small children. No, really. Sadly, I did pay for this manicure. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I got back to my gate to wait for my flight…

After she totally messed up my nails, I ended up trimming them down so I could grow them out. They were pretty stained anyway.

And now I’m just growing them out again. :)

Girly Bits Razzle Dazzle

Not exactly an autumn color, but this is what I wore on Thanksgiving Day. :) Two coats of Girly Bits Razzle Dazzle over one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Presto Pink. Since I hate the gritty feeling of glitter polishes, I topped it off with a coat of Gelous and then a coat of Seche Vite. Those two topcoats smoothed everything out and I had this manicure on for five days with only the slightest of chipping on one thumb. Other than that, like most glitter polishes, it held up great!

Razzle Dazzle is a polish I just received in an order from Llarowe. It was my first time shopping with them and it was a great experience! Super fast shipping, too.

(NOTE: These photos were two days after I painted my nails. There’s just a bit of tip wear on a few.)

My favorite holiday red glitter manicure

Note: Every few months or so, I trim my nails down pretty short. This is just one of those times. Give me a month and they’ll be a more normal length. But hey! Short, stubby nails need polish, too, right? ;)

Today I’m wearing one of my favorite winter holiday combinations. In October, you ask? Absolutely! I’ve been filming some holiday cardmaking videos and it seemed fitting to have red nails.

This favorite combination includes two colors from last year’s holiday collection from China Glaze: Velvet Bow (a deep burgundy) and Ring in the Red (an awesome red glitter). I love layering the glitter on top of the cream polish. It gives it such a deep, rich look. :)

Rescue Beauty Lounge Jack

I’ve been sporting super simple manicures recently. I tend to go through phases when I want something more involved (stamping, gradient, etc), and then I go through “just the polish” phases. Currently in the later. It surely makes manicures less time consuming. Ha! ;)

Today I’m wearing Rescue Beauty Lounge Jack. Such a pretty, deep teal. Perfect for fall. The shimmer is more apparent in the bottle or in direct sunlight. I sort of love the creamy look without the shimmer, too, so I love this polish in all lights. As usual, the RBL formula was buttery and smooth. :)

Cirque Fascination Street

Cirque Fascination Street is a tad bit sheer (you definitely need 3 coats), so I decided to layer it over one coat of A-Englad Avalon. Purple over purple. Perfect! I love the holographic sparkle in this polish. The photos do not do it justice! In person it’s just gorgeous!

You can get Fascination Street from Cirque HERE. They ship fairly quickly. I received my order about a week after I placed it.

BTW, I took these photos 3 days after I painted my nails. Like most polishes with glitter or holographic specks in them, it wears well and resists chipping. :)
