Essie Bikini So Teeny With Dots + Pedicure nightmare

July 31, 2012

Wearing some dots today. :) The dots are from a Cheeky plate and were sort of hard to stamp. It was strange. I was trying to be super careful but you can see that some of the dots are warped. I think I need to practice a bit more with this one. :)

Anyhow, here are some dots!

Base Color: Essie Bikini So Teeny

Pedicure Nightmare

In other news, I had an awful pedicure over the weekend. The technician cut my toes multiple times! I’ve always heard that you should never trim your cuticles, but just push them back. I generally don’t have much dead cuticle to work with anyway, so I’ve never had to warn anyone to NOT trim my cuticles. Anyway, before I knew it the tech was going to town on my toes and making me bleed! Nip! Nip! Nip! I could feel her cutting my skin!

I should have spoken up sooner. Learn from me, people! SPEAK UP AND TELL THEM THEY ARE HURTING YOU! She was going so fast, I just assumed it would be over quickly. Three days later and I still can’t wear socks or closed toe shoes because they rub against my healing WOUNDS. :(

Dude. Never again. I’ll just do my own dang pedicure, thanks.

I’m so thankful for the lady who does my hair/nails/etc. She’s awesome! Very careful and detail oriented! :)

did you go to a place in a strip mall? I went once, had a brutal experience much like yours and that was it for me. I’ll gladly pay $15-$20 more for a pedicure in a salon or a spa where they are going for quality not quantity.

I LOVE your nails today! Base color is adorable. And don’t blame these dots :) I wouldn’t notice that something is wrong if you didn’t tell lol
So SORRY about your pedi experience. I usually do my toes at a nail salon (as too fat to reach them properly for good result lol). My salon is Chinese one, it’s almost impossible to explain them anything (especially as I’m Russian and my English isn’t so perfect as well). I never was completely satisfied with their work and every time made a decision to do it myself next time.
Hope your wound will heal soon.
    Hugs, Svitlana

Be very careful you don’t get an infection from this!!!! I would also complain to the manager. This does not sound good, hope it heals quickly.

I have been a faithful follower of your card making blog and all the videos you post. I, along with just about everyone else I bet, would love it if you would show videos on all your wonderful nail creations. I know you are a very busy person, but we sure would love it even if it were a short video :)
    Thanks so much, Kristina!!

That is rotten about your pedicure…ouch!! I would DEFINITELY call the manager and complain! That is so unacceptable…your poor toes! :(

I think here in Ohio, if they cut you while clipping, they have to stop. So sorry your piggies are sore!

That is awful to hear. I had this happen to me with a manicure days before my wedding so I had scabs on my fingers at my wedding :(

    LOVE the blue!

  • Jen Shults July 31, 2012 at 2:48 pm

Oh man, that stinks about the pedicure. :( I have only had two in my whole life and it just freaks me out to have someone work on my toe cuticles. I’ll stick with the magic blue goo on my toes, lol.

LOVE your dots today! So cute!

Love the soft blue with white polka dots. Sorry about your bad pedi. :(

Have you seen this website? I just discovered her blog today and I thought of you. She seems to have lots of glittery nail pictures.

Yikes. Never heard of getting hurt by a pedi. And I always panic a little when they get the little razor scraper thing out (illegal in most places, here too, but they do it anyway – LOL). But never been hurt. Ever. And toe owies are the worst. Sucks – sorry! BTW – I only have time to do my manicure once a week….Deborah Lippman is the only one that lasts that long. I have Essie on now and it didn’t make it 3 days!

I seriously have stopped getting pedicures lately (at least the inexpensive ones) because I am terrified of them cutting me, or burning me. The hot wax is sooo hot I do not know how more people don’t complain about that. Also I have a blister that never goes away and they always work it to death until I have to tell them to just leave it alone. They are just way too rough sometimes!

One of the many reasons why I won’t let anyone touch my toes.

By the way… Bought two Konad kits here in NZ! Found them at a wholesalers! So excited…. Got four plates and four colours. With scrapers/stampers…. So much fun!

I had one year where when it was time to go back to closed toe shoes at work that I noticed the skin around my toes seem very sore and sensitive. Well that was when I realized that during that summer while getting my pedis that they must’ve cut too much! Not enough to actually cut me but enough to make them irritated. Since then I always push back and cut my own cuticles prior and then when i go for my pedis I tell them not to cut my cuticles. I still like the pampering but not of it’s gonna hurt later!

  • Cindy in Oregon August 5, 2012 at 1:50 pm

A good salon will NOT cut your cuticles. I avoid strip mall nail salons like the plague. They ignore and get around all kinds of state health regulations.
I used to do my own pedicures, but as I’ve gotten older my vision changed and it was too hard to see! I had bend way over and then my back and shoulders would hurt afterwards.

Hi Kristina! I have been a long time follower of your YT channel and your craft blog. It’s so great that you started a nail blog too. You are right, your pedicure should not hurt. How about trying a CND nail salon? I am a certified CND nail tech and one of the golden rules of their training is not to cut cuticle (eponychium) as it is a living tissue. If you are ever in UK (Cambridge area) I would love to give you a lovely pedicure!

OMGosh!! At the very least I would have gone back and demanded a refund!!! That girl has NO business doing manicures or pedicures. She is more suited for answering the dang phones at best!!!
