General, Simple Manicure

Long time no blog

January 8, 2013

Hi all! It’s been a really long time since I last posted here. Definitely not “daily.” ;)

Back in December my nails were probably the longest they have ever been! What’s the perfect manicure for long nails? A French manicure of course… :)

Unfortunately I had a run-in with a really bad manicurist at the Salt Lake City Airport just a few days later. :( The poor girl really had no idea what she was doing. Filing down my nails (No! Stop!), and trying to cover ever bit of nail with polish (Hint: theres a reason why good manicurists leave a little bit of nail near the cuticle unpolished).

Mental note: Never get another airport manicure. Its just not worth it.

Image below is shown small because any larger would scare small children. No, really. Sadly, I did pay for this manicure. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I got back to my gate to wait for my flight…

After she totally messed up my nails, I ended up trimming them down so I could grow them out. They were pretty stained anyway.

And now I’m just growing them out again. :)

Oh wow! That was terrible. I find it astounding that you paid for that. It is so terrible and yet the ones you do yourself look like what you would expect from a professional. The irony!

I had no idea you could even get a manicure at the airport! I steer clear of the strip mall nail salons. I go to a hair salon/spa and both manicurists there are fantastic. My polish lasts at least 8 day from them. Only 5-ish when I do it at home with the same products.

Oh my goodness!!! Is that blood on your nail or is that polish? Kinda made me a little queasy. I hope it’s polish. Either way, I totally wouldn’t have paid for that manicure. That’s absolutely horrible. I can’t believe someone is doing that kind of work and is stil working. Stick to doing your own nails, they look 100% professional and I’d have you do my nails if I lived closer. :0)

      LOL! That’s the polish. :)

I like how you do your nails better than any salon . Btw where do you buy your nail polish?

I love your nails. I recently got a Shellac/uv manicure because of how tough I have heard them to be. I am mega hard on my hands. What do you think of the uv gel manicures?

I change my polish too often to justify a gel manicure. But they look fun! :)

Happy new year Kristina! I feel for you and your nails. Yeah, some manicurists are just crazy. Glad to see the’re ok now.

What color is that dark glittery blue? It’s so pretty! Your nails look really good when you do them.

I don’t know why the French manicure is so hot. When I’m watching a tutorial and they have this manicure I find myself looking at those bright white nail tips that are blunt and flat. They are so ugly to me as they are a distraction to what you want to watch. I like the plain nails with color and not that white stuff under the nail.
It looks horrible to me. They are a real distraction for me. Just give me the nice colored nails. I think you do your nail beautifully. I enjoy looking at your hands and nails..They make a great presentation.
    Just my opinion…no offense.

White stuff *under* the nail? Just making sure you know that it’s not painted underneath? It’s on top. :)

I love French manicures, but definitely not all the time. I have to be in the mood for it on my own nails. :)

I’m obsessed with nail art right now, but still, nothing beats a French! Gorgeous! I like doing a gel French (I have Gelish brand + their LED lamp) and then painting over it whenever I want. Then when I get sick of touch ups and tip wear, I can just take it off and I still have a beautiful mani underneath.

(I’m sorry, but your airport mani looks like my nails circa 5th grade).

I’m so sorry about the SLC manifail. If you ever stop in Utah again, let me know and I’ll come do your nails. Lol. For free. And I’ll do a much better job. Lol.
