Another look at Essie Wicked

October 29, 2013

Years ago when I first started painting my nails in earnest, I researched online for the best polishes and topcoats. I distinctly remember TONS of people online recommending Essie Wicked and Seche Vite topcoat. I really believe that if you try a polish and topcoat that work extremely well, it will most likely change the way you look at nail polish. It’s like a beginner artist trying professional brushes and paints for the first time—you see how the tools really can make your job easier. That’s the experience I had with Wicked and Seche Vite.

I’ve mentioned in the past here at Daily Something that I adore Essie Wicked. It’s the perfect vampy dark blood red, in my opinion. It can almost do no wrong. That’s how much I love it. Well, since we’re knee-deep in autumn nail polish colors, I thought Essie Wicked deserved another look.

It’s really quite a color-shifter. Indoors, it looks almost black. But in direct sunlight, it’s a deep burgundy red. So pretty. :)

OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest

December 6, 2012

(Please excuse the poor lighting in the photo. I’ve only have my nails professionally painted twice, and this was the second time–just last weekend. I snapped this picture in the salon).

OPI Live and Let Die

November 16, 2012

On my nails at the moment, and I’m loving it even more than I thought I would: OPI’s Live and Let Die. It a nearly black, dark teal. Hard to describe. But I like it. :)

Rescue Beauty Lounge Jack

September 22, 2012

I’ve been sporting super simple manicures recently. I tend to go through phases when I want something more involved (stamping, gradient, etc), and then I go through “just the polish” phases. Currently in the later. It surely makes manicures less time consuming. Ha! ;)

Today I’m wearing Rescue Beauty Lounge Jack. Such a pretty, deep teal. Perfect for fall. The shimmer is more apparent in the bottle or in direct sunlight. I sort of love the creamy look without the shimmer, too, so I love this polish in all lights. As usual, the RBL formula was buttery and smooth. :)

Oldie but goodie – Essie Wicked

August 10, 2012

Years and years ago when my nail polish obsession was just in its infancy, I bought Essie Wicked. I adored Essie Wicked. I think it was my exclusive polish for two or three months. Just couldn’t get enough of it. It wears well and seems to match everything.

It’s a dark vampy burgundy, slightly gel-ish, black indoors and rich red out in the sun. It’s just an awesome color.

So when I go through a nail polish funk (i.e. when I don’t feel like doing super fun nail art or stamping), sometimes I go back to Wicked. It just makes me happy. :)

P.S. This photo below makes it look really purple, but it’s really a color shifter! Depending on the lighting, Wicked can go more red, more brown, more black. It’s an awesome color.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Black Russian

April 13, 2012

I’ve been eying Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes for a while now and finally ordered a few polishes a couple weeks ago. They’re not the cheapest polishes in the world, but I’ve heard the quality of the polish is amazing. It’s hard to order polishes online without seeing them in person, but I took a chance and I’m glad I did. :)

When the package arrived, I immediately fell in love with Black Russian and knew I’d chosen wisely. It’s the perfect blend of dark vampy polish and a bit of red shimmer. I took this photo in my hotel room without good lighting (out of town at the moment), but believe me the shimmer is more apparent in natural light. :)
